"EDITORIAL REASONING IS BEYOND THE FACADE."

                              Edwin Borkin (1st editor) 1893

"If you can't make it better, you can always make it shorter."

                             Samuel Arcoff (Head of AIP---1960's)

Below are various clips of feature films, documentaries, trailers, promos. etc. I have     edited. The promos and trailers I produced as well as edited.

NOTE:  The clips below are of varying quality. Except for Club Dead and Big Bad Mama they are out of print as far as I can determine. The tapes used were not masters. Usually used VHS tapes. The features were "low budget" or "indie". All were distributed, except for Club Dead  which is going into distribution. The documentaries go where doc's go. Promos were "in house" and shown at  AFM, MIFED, Cannes,  etc. Trailers were used in theaters and DVD previews.  I used what I could find to demonstrate my picture editing  abilities. In the last decade or  more I've  concentrated more on the audio end of Post   at Paramount, Sony, Warner's, etc.  (See sound resume)

THE PSYCHIC  CONNECTION

{Feature  Reality/Documentary}

This started out as a half-hour "reality" TV show,
that was made into a feature length "reality"
documentary.  Unfortunately the funniest stuff
didn't make it into the feature.

Selected scenes

Quality--FAIR-VHS Tape

INTELLIGENT DESIGN /Albert Einstein

{Documentary}

This Documentary is based on a series of lectures
comparing the lives of Albert Einstein and Edgar Cayce
by Pulitzer nominated writer Sidney Kirkpatrick. I did a lot
of Photoshop work.

Selected Scenes:

Quality--Photography/Graphics

THE DEVESTATORS (Feature Dream sequence)

Standard action, corrupt sheriff, drug deals gone bad,
film from Roger Corman. Like many of New Horizon
films, we cut it short for domestic - too short for
Foreign and TV distribution. After not finding enough
"lifts"  to lengthen the film,
the post supervisor told
me to cut a "film school dream sequence". I used footage
from wherever I could find it, often from other films. Went on
to do a few more for other "short movies".

Content:
Action/Violence

Quality--VHS Tape

Trailers and Promos

These are several promos and trailers I cut. The promos were for various
film markets like AFM, MIFED, CANNE, BAFTA, etc.
My promo and trailer jobs
were word of mouth. I produced them. I worked with director/producers
/distributor. Editing, cutting sound, music, design credits, write copy,
recording voiceover/ as well as dealing with labs. optical houses, telecine, etc.

PROMO (Long Form)

YEAR OF THE GUN -- J. Frankenheimer film -- J&M Ent

Shot in Italy, story centers on kidnapping ala the Red Brigade in the '70's.
Decent promo 15 minute promo that I got to work with John Frankenheimer on.
(Warning-I haven't found the copy with music and voice-over)

starring
Andrew McCarthy Sharon Stone

Quality--VHS Worktape

IRON MAZE -- J&M Entertainment

Rashoman-like story  centered in a rundown mid-western steel town. I cut this
18 minute 'Mini movie" from a very rough 3 hour cut. J&M needed a long
promo to show a decent amount of the movie for buyers at BAFTA in London.
I had 2 weeks to assemble something that made sense and was dynamic.  Since
this was only "in house" and no score was available I put in music,
added sound efx and mixed it hours before I
was on a plane to London. Well
shot with a lot of great images.

starring
Bridget Fonda - Jeff Fahey

Selected scenes.

Quality--3/4' Copy

BETRAYAL OF THE DOVE -- J&M Entertainment

10 minute promo of a murder mystery with a decent cast.
Made from rough cut.Unfortunately the film was of
uneven quality. Added Mx, Fx's,Mx, mixed, etc.

TRAILERS

FINAL MISSION

Viet-Nam vet turned cop, has past revisit him,
Variation of the usual. I also Post-Supervised this film.

WELCOME TO CLUB DEAD

Haunted house film on Caribbean Island

All the trailers I've cut I never thought about keeping them. Final Mission
I found by accident in my garage. I have a couple on 35mm.
I  have the  word out and hope to put a couple more on the website.

                       * Some films I couldn't find a reasonable copy. One, The Devastators,  I could only find the dream sequence
I cut on a tape of added scenes for a longer TV/Foreign cut.  Most of these we're low budget action films with
names like Cocaine Wars, Mission Terminate, Kill Crazy and quite often the distributors changed the names.  It
                         was always
fun calling Film House in Toronto wanting to order footage and guessing which name the film
                        started as. Crossfire
started out as N.A.M - Not Another Mistake. I know because I also wrote the script.
